Ignorance can be very unfair and often deprive people of some of life’s most wonderful experiences. Often ignored and regarded as merely the platinum city that is dominated by mines, Rustenburg holds more fun and adventure than most care to grasp, with the prominent Sun City resort located in the heart of this continuously growing city, the National Park, eco-friendly adventure activities, the Predator Park and the famous Sterkfontein Caves. Don’t rule out Rusty as a perfect holiday destination and learn about all this friendly city has on offer, and let the exploration begin. Venture on a safari journey to Pilanesberg National Park, home to the Big Five of South Africa’s large mammals; the African lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, African leopard, and rhinoceros. Pick either a self-driving or a guided tour of the park You can discover trails on foot, visit a bird park, or simply have a family picnic, with facilities in the park including private lodges and campsites for those with a more adventurous spirit. The park houses most of the mammals indigenous to the country, so be on the lookout for hippos, black and white rhinos, leopards, lions, antelope, and numerous other animals. Located next to the R24 Johannesburg road on the far South Eastern side of the city with easy access from the N4 platinum highway is The Waterfall Mall. A mall that come into existence in September 1998; a great spot to catch a cold glass of something to quench your thirst, do some last-minute hopping on things you forgot to include in your luggage bag, have a quick manicure and pedicure, catch an interesting movie and even buy a loved one a gift while on holiday. The centre which is periodically frequented by local and international tourists from Sun City, Pilanesberg and the surrounding holiday resorts has about 159 varied tenants anchored by Woolworth’s, Game, Edgar’s, Pick n Pay, Dischem and Ster Kinekor. Located inside a World Heritage Site, Sterkfontein Cave is home to one of world’s largest collections of hominid fossils, with guided tours to take you on a journey into an underground world occupied many thousands of years ago. You might want to combine the visit to the cave with a tour of the neighbouring museum, where you can learn more about ancestries and evolution of the human race. The ecommended duration is two-and-half hours between 9am and 5pm. Akwaaba Predator Park is a wildlife park in North West, on the Koster Road in Doornlaagte, Rustenburg. If you love animals, predators in particular, this place might end up as your favourite spot to be when you desire close contact with these animals. This is where you will get to interact with the exotic 010 492-5227
