The event will be one of the few horse races in the country that children can enjoy along with their parents.
Offering a fun and secure environment for kids, the 2017 edition comes complete with a carnival, boasting everything from a ferris wheel to interactive games and wild and wacky performers.
Kids can admire the horses in the parade ring and on the track, as well as experience mechanical rides, have their faces painted, interact with buskers and enjoy a delicious food.

Stepping in to lend a helping hand are the city’s prim and proper ladies and gentlemen to share their fashion, beauty and grooming tips and tricks for a day like this. Bobo Ndima, Soweto born suit-tailoring entrepreneur, stylist and men’s fashion blogger, gives his expert opinion on how any guy can look the part and still enjoy himself throughout the day: “A horse racing event is a prestigious day, therefore one should make an effort to create or assembe a look that will complement the day. “The era of happy socks and skinny jeans has reached its demise. A well-tailored suit, ideally linen or cotton, will work well in this heat. Summer jackets and perfect fit pants, bright and pastel colours will help one to stand out at the event.” Cultural curator, fashion stylist, online content creator, photographer and publicist Jerri Mokgofe shares his knowledge on dressing for the race course. “First thing to bear in mind is that The Sansui Summer Cup is an outdoor day event held at a racecourse during the summer season. That should already give you the heads up on the type of outfit you should opt for. It is also important to be cognizant of the fact that during the summer season it can start raining at any given time and this has happened many times at this particular event. If you are still not too sure what to wear: for gents, a summer-coloured suit in a light summer fabric paired with a hat of choice and comfortable shoes, always does the trick. However, if you are feeling less conventional, another look to channel that is style-proof is earth-toned linen pants paired with either a pastel coloured shirt or a floral shirt untucked.
