TRAINERS

* Mike de Kock has won the race a record nine times: Evening Mist (1989), Record Edge (1997), Golden Hoard (1998), Delta Form (2000), Ingleside (2001), Wolf Whistle (2003), Ilha Da Vitoria (2005), Rudra (2008) and Flirtation (2010). He runs Orchid Island this year. * Geoff Woodruff goes for his seventh Cup win and his fifth in a row: El Picha (1999), Eventuail (2002), Yorker (2013), Louis The King (2014), Master Sabina (2015), Master Sabina (2016). He runs Master Switch and Pagoda. * Sean Tarry goes for his second win with French Navy, Liege, Tilbury Fort and Social Order. He won with Aslan in 2009. * Joe Soma is the only other trainer with runners (Master Sabina and Wind Chill) to have won before. His charge Wagner scored a big upset in 2012.

JOCKEYS

* Piere Strydom goes for his fourth Cup win and rides Master Switch. Previous victories Eventuail (2002), Tyson (2004) and Louis The King (2014). * Gavin Lerena is also out to win the Cup for the fourth time and the third year running. He will be aboard Brazuca after wins on Dancewitht­hedevil (2011) and Master Sabina (2015 and 2016).

DRAWS

* Only three runners have won the Cup from double-digit draws in the last 15 years - Ilha Da Vitoria (17 draw in 2005), Strategic News (draw 13 in 2007) and Wagner from No 11 in the starting gate in 2012.

AGE

* Four-year-olds have dominated the Cup in the last 15 years, winning 10 times. Five-year-olds have won three times with a single victory by a six-year-old and one by a sevenyear-old.
