Duric set to tie up the Singapore jockeys’ title at Kranji

- Larry Foley

While most scribes have Vlad Duric’s name pencilled in for the 2017 Singapore Champion Jockey title, the jockey will want to put the premiership to bed today at the penultimate meeting of the season.

A title win by the affable Australian would break a Brazilian stranglehold on the coveted trophy and a six-win lead on Manny Nunes with some 20 races to go looks a comfortable gap.

Nunes could open the card with a win on Great Seven and should be hard to beat on Red Riding Wood in Race 5.

Any more success for the Brazilian would be a surprise but Duric will want to at least match him on the night and, as expected, has a solid book of rides.

A raced newcomer in Race 3 – Elite Invincible – looks to have every chance on the back of a nice trial while the maiden Race For Fame looks to have as good as chance as any in Race 5.

Libeccio (Race 6) is another maiden who could use the Duric polish while last-start winner Kingsman will have his admirers in Race 8.

The lucky last could be just that for Duric as he partners the smart Elite Power, who won at Listed level as a two-year-old in the UK and has looked very good in his local trials. May the best man win! Best Bet – Race 8: (7) WEBSTER. Best Eachway – Race 7: (1) ABSOLUTE MIRACLE. Best Value – Race 3: (8) CASING ROYAL. R128 Jackpot (Races 6-9): 4, 5, 6, 9 x 1, 2) x 1, 3, 4, 7) x 1, 2, 3, 4.
