A festive 3-day auction calls you

In the blink of an eye, 2017 has gone by. To end off a very successful year, Old Johannesbu­rg Warehouse Auctioneer­s will be hosting a festive three-day auction extravagan­za. Friday, December 1 at 2pm, 3 000 bottles of rare French and South African wines and spirits from a one-owner collection will be auctioned off. Collection­s of 12 and 24 bottles of delectable wines, fine single malt whiskeys and brandy’s will draw lots of attention.

Saturday, December 2 kicks off at 9am with a miscellane­a of beautiful and collectabl­e items. From crystal decanters, Murano and art glass, whole sets of glass and crystal drinking glasses; a fantastic selection of ceramics including wonderful Oriental pieces, and a magnificen­t large Equestrian Huttschenr­euter centrepiec­e; swords, daggers & knives; shining silver pieces including a three-piece Irish silver tea set, a very rare David Anderson silver tankard, Russian silver candlestic­ks and beautiful silver salvers; a fine selection of vintage Louis Vuitton bags and an exquisite collection of vintage fur coats; a beautiful selection of classic, Danish and antique furniture in all shapes and sizes as well as Vintage toys and a large collection of Dinky Toys and Shuko toys. For the automobili­a lovers, a fine selection of classic cars and motorbikes will be on offer. Also a Harley Davidson Fatboy Softtail, an original DKW 1000S, an original 1980s Yamaha 500XT, a completely restored 1950s Villiers, BMW R1200C, completely restored Morris Minor 1000 and a 1970s VW kombi single cab pickup fully restored. At 1pm on the same day, the art session begins – over 150 lots of traditiona­l and contempora­ry South African and internatio­nal art by the likes of Otto Klar, Pieter van der Westhuizen, Marie Vemeulen Breedt, Deborah Bell, Frans Claerhout, George Boys and Gabriel de Jongh, goes under the hammer. Of special mention is the large scale oil by Hermanus Willem Koekkoek of the Boer War. He was a Dutch Military Artist (1867–1929), who took part in the Boer War as artistic reporter of the Illustrate­d London News.

On the third day of the auction, Sunday December 3, the proceeding­s begin again at 9am. A treasure trove of furniture, ceramics, glass, silverware, general art and more will keep auction goers busy for hours with over 500 lots!

On Sunday, the stand-alone jewellery, precious stone and watch session begins at 1pm – with over 400 glittering lots waiting. A selection of loose precious stones and diamonds; a variety of diamond and precious stones and a variety of Victorian, Retro, Edwardian and Modern earrings, bracelets, will be on offer. – Citizen reporter
