Gabuza has team’s support, says Sredojevic

Micho Sredojevic says they will continue to support misfiring striker Thamsanqa Gabuza (left) and has described him as a special player with a positive energy.

The striker has only scored three goals so far in all competitions and has drawn a blank since scoring twice against Polokwane City at the end of September.

Gabuza failed to find the net despite having a number of chances during the 1-1 draw with AmaZulu on Saturday evening, which saw defender Ntsikelelo Nyauza scoring at both ends of the field at the Orlando Stadium.

“Gabuza is the darling of the team, he is positive. Thabo Matlaba is his good friend and I’m sure he will agree with me when I say he is a very nice guy, he is good for the team with a very positive energy at training,” said Sredojevic.

“All of us wanted him to break his jinx. He scored two goals against Polokwane City and since then he has missed many chances. With that, I would like to say we support him. In football, we win, we lose and draw together. We were very close to winning today (Saturday), but it was all about the final product.

“We need to support him because there will be a time when he will repay us with important goals.”

The draw with AmaZulu saw Bucs go second in the Premiership with 20 points after 14 games.

Sredojevic, however, is not really ecstatic about the team being in the top two, with his major concern still being to solve their dearth of goals.

“We are thinking exclusively about ourselves. We want to solve our problems and focus on solving the technical problem of converting chances,” he added.

Bucs travel to Goble Park for a meeting with Free State Stars on Saturday.
