It is time to deliver to the masses
The election of Cyril Ramaphosa, pictured, as the president of the ANC, ends the intense speculation about who would succeed the corruption troubled President Jacob Zuma – but that does not automatically mean South Africa will see economic and political stability.
Equitably implementing public policies and constitutional ambitions and effective service delivery and fulfilling the vision of the founding members of the ANC will be Ramaphosa’s biggest challenge.
Efficient management of government structures and policy implementation is critically important in managing investor confidence and restoring stability in the forex market.
Together with satisfying the different government promises made over the years with re- gards to improving the lives of all South Africans, the immediate resolve could come from tackling corruption and tenderpreneur-driven fraud and tightening government expenditure.
Ramaphosa needs to take the bull by its horns and reduce

wasteful government spending and focus on sectors that support job and wealth creation, poverty alleviation, transformation, and grow the tax base.
Enough of self-aggrandisement and empowerment, rhetoric and revolutionary pretence and undertakings. It is time to deliver to the masses, especially the less privileged and working class.
I convey my most sincere and warmest congratulations to the new president and the leadership of the ANC. I hope and pray that the new leaders will reinforce democratic structures and institutions and improve the economy.
