You need to be known

EXPOSING YOUR BRAND IS CRUCIAL

- Munya Duvera

If business is about who you know, then surely who knows you plays a key role. Why? Because the more people that know you, the more business you open yourself up to. How can you determine if you are popular in the business community or at the very least in your field and specific industry? A simple method is to study how often your phone rings.

If your phone is not buzzing all day long, you are not popular enough to draw scores of customers. Granted, it’s not a popularity contest, but it speaks volumes to your demand. Therefore it is advantageous to position yourself as the go-to person whenever people require an individual with your specific skill set.

An entrepreneur in demand is offered involvement in deals in industries he or she is not even operating in; unknown doors open to those who are known.

But the greatest advantage of being known is that it attracts constant sales. It’s no secret that finding customers is not easy. Position yourself in a space that attracts customers, because once people perceive you as an expert, your phone won’t stop ringing.

The question then becomes how do you get people to know you? That’s the easy part: you have got to put yourself out there for the world to see and take notice.

Social media is a fantastic way to push your brand, as well as speaking at conferences or your industry trade shows. Maybe you could write a column specific to your industry or join chambers of commerce and be noticed through participating and volunteering. How about offering your expert opinion on radio talk shows?

Any method in which you can expose your brand is crucial, because you want to get to a point where random people are calling you wanting your services. Many entrepreneurs are struggling because the world doesn’t know them – and no matter how fantastic your products are if no one knows you, failure is inevitable.
