Bill Gates is a fan of local funnyman Trevor Noah

- Tshepiso Makhele

Trevor Noah has just received an additional huge validation, and this time it’s from one of the world’s most successful businessmen, Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

The tech mogul expressed his support for the host of The Daily Show, categorising him as one of his “favourite” comedians.

“Millennials want to make a difference in the world. One of my favourite comedians @Trevornoah urges us to give them a chance,” Gates jotted down on Twitter.

This was after a piece that Noah wrote for Time magazine’s website, where he defended millennials against criticisms from the older generations. A portion of Trevor’s piece reads: “Millennials oftentimes are mocked – people say they’re lazy, that they’re entitled and that they cry about small things (which is true). But they’re also driven. They wish to make a change. They believe that they can make a change, partly because of the information and the tools that they possess.”

The article received a positive reaction from readers around the globe, but it is without a doubt that Noah was also flattered to see this tweet from Gates.

In 2016 the comedian was voted the Most Influential Young South African in Media by one of the most credible and respected annual ranking polls organised by internationally reputed rating establishment, Avance Media. This spot has been taken over by Economic Freedom Fighters’ National spokesperson Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi last year.
