AmaZulu in bid to end the jitters

- Sibongiseni Gumbi

AmaZulu will be looking for another win and ease their regelation worries when they host Bloemfontein Celtic in an Absa Premiership match at King Zwelithini Stadium this evening at 7.30pm. The match was abandoned in December due to a waterlogged pitch.

Communications manager Brilliant Mkhathini said yesterday the team are going for all three points because if they are to retain their Premiership status at the end of the season they need to win their home games.

AmaZulu are 13th on 18 points, just three above bottom team Platinum Stars, though Usuthu have two games in hand.

“We are positive. We are coming off a home win which we hope is the start of a good run for us,” he said.

AmaZulu fans have been jittery in the last few weeks with a peaceful march organised to talk to coach Cavin Johnson being thwarted by the club’s management, while some fans were banned from attending the team’s games this season.

In Phunya Sele Sele, Usuthu will face a team who are desperate to get back to winning ways after losing their last two matches. AmaZulu should be buoyed by two things: that their team have started scoring again and that Celtic have conceded five in their last two matches.

“It is a game we have to win. Form will count nothing in this match because we are both desperate for full points. We will have to be at our best,” added Mkhathini.
