Sredojevic on a big mission

Orlando Pirates coach Micho Sredojevic (above) is looking at the game against Maritzburg United at the Orlando Stadium tonight to get back to winning ways following their disappointing loss against Ajax Cape Town in a midweek league clash.

The Buccaneers suffered their first defeat of the year after losing 3-0 to the Urban Warriors at the Cape Town Stadium.

“We are refocusing and need to find a way to recover the team going into our third match in seven days. It is an important match and we need to show our character, we need pull up our socks and sleeves. We are looking forward to the game against Maritzburg,” said Sredojevic.

The loss saw the Soweto giants drop to fourth position in the league standings having reached the 30 points level with arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs, who are a place higher due to their better goal difference.

The Team of Choice have also enjoyed a decent start to the year having recorded three wins, one loss and one draw in their last five games. United are in sixth place with 28 points, just two points behind Bucs.

Ahead of this clash, defender Brian Onyango says they are going for a win in Orlando and the fact that they are playing against Pirates is a big boost.

“Pirates are one of the biggest teams in Africa, so that’s motivation enough for us as players,” Onyango told the club’s website.

The clash between the two teams might see a couple of new faces in their respective line-ups, with United having brought in William Thwala, while Bucs might introduce Xola Mlambo who they signed from Bidvest Wits.
