Golden voice treat at Golden Valley Casino

RAPIDLY RISING STAR TO SING HEART OUT FOR HIS MANY FANS Have your soul touched by dynamic artist’s vocals.

True to its promise to give homegrown talent a platform on which to perform, Golden Valley Casino in Worcester presents Craig Lucas, winner of The Voice SA in 2016, at Winners Sports Bar on March 24 2018.

Hailing from Elsie’s River, a part of the Cape flats notorious for drugs and gangsterism, Lucas rose above his circumstances, obtained an excellent education and had South Africans at the edge of their seats during the 2016 season of The Voice SA.

Admittedly a “mommy’s boy”, this dynamic artist said upon being announced the winner of the popular competition that he owes all he has to his mother, who raised him on her own from when he was just three years old following the death of his father.

He also disclosed that he would spend all his winnings on his mother who, he said, had sometimes worked three or four jobs to provide for him and his brother.

Known by fellow pupils and friends as being notoriously shy, this was something Lucas had to overcome if he wanted to enter The Voice SA. And overcome it he did.

Lucas tackled House of the Rising Sun in his first audition and the judges were absolutely blown away by this, his first performance on stage.

Lucas was coached by mentor Kahn Morbee, lead singer of the world-renowned The Parlotones. Improving and becoming more and more dynamic with each passing week, judges and fans loved Lucas’ performances and finally, after beating firm favourite Josh Ansley, Lucas was announced the winner of the competition.

Lucas aspires to do with his music what Morbee has.

He was quoted in one of the many articles written about him, especially in the Cape media, saying “Khan is an amazing mentor. He’s smart and he doesn’t have the biggest voice, but his voice touches my soul and that is what I want to do with my music.”

Have your soul touched by this dynamic artist’s vocals at Golden Valley’s Sports Bar at R100 per person, with tickets available at the casino’s cash desk. The show starts at 9pm. – Citizen reporter
