The clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United is undoubtedly one of the most-anticipated fixtures in the Absa Premiership league.

Going into battle at the Lucas Moripe Stadium today, the battle between the sides on the day won’t just be about bragging rights for Tshwane, but maximum points at fulltime will mean a lot to both sides.

Downs are currently on top of the standings with 39 points, five points ahead of Kaizer Chiefs after 21 matches. Pitso Mosimane charges will certainly be hoping to stretch their lead.

Eric Tinkler’s SuperSport, meanwhile, have not been the same following their Caf Confederation Cup campaign which unravelled at the final hurdle.

The club’s league form has not been impressive, and full points against Downs will give them some confidence boost to sneak into the top eight. Matsatsantsa are currently in 10th place in the Premiership with 25 points.

With so much at stake for both clubs, I see Sundowns winning this one.
