Riding high, but Memela looks to improve

Orlando Pirates winger Luvuyo Memela (right) says the most important thing for Pirates at the moment is to improve in each and every game they play as they travel to Port Elizabeth for a meeting with Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

The dazzling winger who has been instrumental in the Bucs starting line-up, scoring and creating goals, says they have prepared for this clash like any other game and is expecting their fans to flock to the stadium.

“It is usual, like we were preparing for any other game. We just want to continue playing the way we have been and get positive results. The most important thing for us is to improve game by game,” said Memela.

Ahead of this game, Bucs have enjoyed a reasonable campaign, particularly in the beginning of the year. The club are in contention for league honours as they currently sitting in third spot on the league table with 33 points, just a mere six points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with nine more games to play before the end of the season.

Memela, however, downplayed their title chances and maintains they are only looking for improvement.

“It is all about taking it one game at a time, we will see how everything pans out at the end of the season. For us, we just want to continue getting points and the rest will follow.”

Meanwhile, Chilli Boys defender James Okwousa says coming up against Pirates will be a tough challenge, but he is optimistic they will be able to give his former side a good run for their money.

“Everyone in the team is confident and willing to go all out on the day,” he said.

“They (Pirates) have been playing well, but we are also good and they also know what is coming their way.”

This clash will also see former Bucs players Thabo Rakhale and Brighton Mhlongo going up against their old mates, as well as their coach Teboho Moloi, who was an assistant at Bucs and is also friends with Pirates head coach Micho Sredojevic.
