Rotation the name of the game for Pitso

Pitso Mosimane says his rotation policy will be key in keeping Mamelodi Sundowns sharp in their bid for a third Absa Premiership title in five seasons. Sundowns are in the running for a league and cup double as they are also still in contention for the Nedbank Cup.

“We have been keeping the Bafana Bafana players out of the team for the last four games because they have a lot of mileage in their legs, we need them fresh. We kept Themba Zwane (right), Hlompho Kekana and Sibusiso Vilakazi out,” said Mosimane.

“When we see them coming back, they are fresh, they have energy, I am happy when they come back fresh,” said Mosimane.

Downs are in KwaZulu-Natal tonight where they face Cavin Johnson’s AmaZulu at the King Zwelithini Stadium. Masandawana did drop four points in their last two games as they played successive draws against Free State Stars and SuperSport United, but they still remain in pole position, as they enjoy a four point lead over Orlando Pirates.

After AmaZulu, the Brazilians go to Rwanda where they begin this season’s Caf Champions League campaign on Wednesday. Downs got a bye in the preliminary round and will now need to get past Rayon Sport if they are to book a place in the group stages.

“We are trying to stay on top but it is not easy. I have to refresh my players and we will do it. It is a bit risky, but we can afford it.

“When we come back from Rwanda we have EC Bees (in the Nedbank Cup on March 13) and then the Champions League game again, so it’s four games in that space,” Mosimane said.
