Topping the bill of fare is a 12-race card with five feature events which includes the R1million Gauteng Guineas and the R500,000 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas, both Grade 2 races over 1600m on the Standside track.

The Gauteng Guineas is the first leg of the SA Triple Crown which will result in a R2-million bonus paid out to any runner who can win the Guineas, the SA Classic over 1800m on 7 April and the SA Derby over 2400m on 5 May.

The Fillies Guineas is the first leg of the Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara. There will be a R1-million bonus paid out to any filly who can win the Fillies Guineas, the SA Fillies Classic and the SA Oaks.

Also run on the day are the Grade 2 Hawaii Stakes over 1400m, the Grade 3 Acacia Handicap for fillies and mares over 1600m and the Listed Aquanaut Handicap for stayers over 2400m.

There are a number of carryovers on offer for punters who are looking to make money, the biggest of which is the R1-million being added to the Pick 6 pool which is estimated to reach R4 million.

The Pick 6 starts in Race 4 at 1.40pm and will run through to Race 9. There will also be two BiPots and two Jackpots.

Entrance into the Racecourse is R50 for adults and R20 for anybody under the age of 18. However, adults will receive a betting voucher of R30 while the youngsters will get a “goodie bag”.

Then there is a Gin and Craft Beer Festival at the course where you can taste some of the latest craft beers on the market and a variety of gins. While all this is going on the kids can enjoy themselves at the special entertainment are organised for them or they can listen to live music.

There will also be a lot of sport going on all around the country but if you are at Turffontein, do not worry. We have it covered!

Nobody wants to miss out on the greatest South African football derby – Kaizer Chiefs against Orlando Pirates. Have no fear. The match will be broadcast live on our large television screen.

And then, at 5.15pm, the Bulls will be playing the Lions in a SupeRugby match in Pretoria and once again, there will be facilities at Turffontein for you to watch it.

And while all this is going on you can watch some of the greatest thoroughbreds in the country doing battle in some of greatest racing around.
