Marcus continues hot streak

Adam Marcus’ Brave Move confirmed she is a filly with a bright future with another impressive win in the FM 97 Divided Handicap over 1600m at Durbanville on Saturday.

The Computaform top bet quickened impressively again to win unextended by 1.75 lengths, and her conditioner indicated afterwards she would be aimed at the Ladies Mile and Final Fling in Cape Town this winter.

Marcus said: “She works well and gives you confidence, and it’s now time to look for black type for her.”

Jockey Aldo Domeyer was also impressed. “She’s got gears, and could be something special. She certainly impressed me,” was his post-race summation.

Adam’s mother Debbie Marcus was also on course for the first time in years, and on this evidence should come racing more often, as the stable also won the seventh.

Bridal Party just got up in the final strides to win in a desperate finish where half a length covered the first five past the post. But when a stable is hot these things tend to go your way.

That continued a remarkable recent run of success, as their last nine runners dating back to 2 February have produced seven winners, a second and a third.

Sent off second favourite at 16-10, this Var colt made all without too much fuss, despite a challenge from form choice and market leader Twist Of Fate.

Oratorio filly Sequined scored in the fourth to complete a decent day for the stable.

Justin Snaith also scored a double, as two of his regular placers left the Maiden ranks.

The Boston Rose and Amarosa have each proven expensive to follow, but both went barrier to box on this occasion under the expert guidance of Grant van Niekerk.
