Three escaped inmates nabbed
Three of the six inmates who escaped from Pollsmoor Prison in Cape Town on Sunday night were rearrested yesterday.
According to Lieutenant-Colonel Andre Traut, one was arrested in Kleinvlei and two in Ocean View.
The six inmates escaped from the B5 unit of Pollsmoor Prison’s Medium B section at about 11pm on Sunday.
They removed bars with a length of metal obtained by breaking one of the beds.
One of the escaped inmates is serving a 12-year sentence for attempted murder.
The others were sentenced for petty crimes.
“This office can confirm that the circumstances surrounding the escape of six prisoners from Pollsmoor Prison are being investigated,” said Traut.
