Officials arrested

A referee and his assistant were arrested at the weekend after players reported them for trying to get them to throw a match in the ABC Motsepe League. The referee, whose name is known to

was recorded confessing to acting as a middleman for a club official. “I was sent to ask for players to throw the game and hand his team the points. He promised to give them R1 000 each for four players. He gave me a car and booked me into a hotel,” the referee said on the video. The match was postponed when he was arrested.

Chippa chasing Ramagalela

Chippa United are said to be looking to poach Polokwane City striker Rodney Ramagalela (above) as the club feel they lack potency in front of goal. “They are looking at various options but Rama G is the preferred choice,” said a source. Ramagalela has scored 10 goals so far this season. “There are also two strikers from outside the country who might come to be assessed at the end of the season. They have realised that they need a good finisher who is a predator and stays and hustles in the box,” added the source. Another Polokwane player who has attracted some suitors is Walter Musona who is wanted by Maritzburg United.
