isitors to this year’s Lusito Land Festival can look forward to an incredible line-up of music by some of the country’s most talented artists including AKA, Sketchy Bongo, The Parlotones, Micasa, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Snotkop, Matthew Mole, Lady Zamar, GoodLuck, Shekhinah, Dr Victor & The Rasta Rebels.

Lusito Association spokesperson Noemia Contente says the festival is so much more than a celebration of Portuguese cuisine and culture.

“This is our 37th year and we are more committed than ever to ensuring everyone in the family has an incredible time.

“This year’s line-up has been carefully selected to cover a wide range of musical genres to cater for every taste.”

Contente further indicates that South African indie rock band, The Parlotones, is sure to enthral rock fans.

Lady Zamar, who enjoyed a meteoric rise on the music scene in 2016 and 2017, is expected to delight audiences with her sensual vocals, singing hit songs such as Charlotte, Criminal, Love is Blind and My Baby.

Another young songstress expected to wow festival-goers, Contente explains, is Durban-born singer-songwriter, Shekhinah, who will perform songs off her debut album Rose Gold. Critically acclaimed hip hop duo Major League DJz will continue to support local talent, musicians and entrepreneurs at their social festival; one of Africa’s biggest biannual music festivals.

The Major League Gardens Social Arts Festival Weekend is set for Saturday, March 17, at The Expo Centre in Nasrec.

This year Major League DJz are aiming to set the global standard for experiential lifestyle festivals across Africa. The local narrative resonates deeply with the DJz as they feel Africans express their stories best with dance, food and music.

The line-up comprises of Africa’s finest acts including international trailblazers Black Coffee, Riky Rick, Cassper Nyovest, six time SAMA winner Kwesta, Sjava, Black Motion and Shimza, alongside leaders of new school music Nadia Nakai, Shane Eagle, Stilo Magolide; Frank Casino DJ Speedsta, Gemini Major, Tshego and more.

“We truly pride ourselves in understanding what our loyal followers and fans want, thus we’re partnering with brands such as Amstel and Channel O to mention a few, who support our brand through and through.”
