Moon won’t give up on PSL title

IT’S A CRAZY GAME AND ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN

Hope never killed anyone – so says an old African proverb and Kaizer Chiefs striker Ryan Moon said they remain hopeful of pulling off a surprise in the Absa Premiership title race.

Speaking ahead of tonight’s match against AmaZulu FC at the FNB Stadium (6pm), Moon said the team believe they can still snatch the title despite trailing leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by eight points.

“The belief will always be there,” said the 21-year-old striker. “This is football and we all know it is a crazy game and anything can happen.”

As young and new to the team as he is, Moon has been a good find for Steve Komphela as he has scored some crucial goals which have kept Amakhosi in the hunt in both the league and Nedbank Cup.

But he has not scored in the last three games and he said despite that, he is not worrying too much about it.

“I don’t put any pressure on myself. The moment you start putting pressure on yourself you don’t play your normal game. I know what I expect from myself and what I am capable of. I just need to go out there and do what I am best at doing.

“It’s not a big concern but obviously I want to score more goals. But I have to take it one step at a time. The goals will come. It’s been three games that I haven’t scored. I am aware I need to start scoring again,” he said.

Amakhosi fans will hope Moon gets his scoring touch back tonight when they play Usuthu who he said are not an easy team to beat.

“AmaZulu are a tough team especially when they come up against a big club. They really lift their game. It’s an important game because it carries a crucial three points for us especially after our defeat to Orlando Pirates. It’s important we get the full points this time.

“We have to run our own race and just collect three points at a time. There are seven games left and they all carry three points. That is why I say we have to run our own race and not worry much about what happens above or below us. We just have to focus on ourselves and collect the three points in each game,” said Moon.
