Fleck’s Stormers to go for the jugular

- Rudolph Jacobs

The Stormers are geared up to tackle the second half of their Super Rugby campaign by the scruff of the neck starting with tomorrow’s big coastal derby against the Sharks in Durban, stated Stormers coach Robbie Fleck.

It will be the Stormers’ third straight local derby away from home after going down to the Bulls and the Lions prior to their bye last week.

“The break was good for the squad from both a mental and physical perspective and we returned refreshed this week, ready to take on the second half of the campaign,” said Fleck.

“It is great to have some players returning from injury and it has been a good week of training so we are looking forward to it.”

He has made three changes to the side that lost to the Lions.

With Fleck having decided to give No 8 Nizaam Carr a rest on the bench, Sikhumbuzo Notshe will make his first start of the season by linking up with captain Siya Kolisi and Pieter-Steph du Toit in the loose trio. The 24-yearold’s inclusion is the only change to the forward pack.

There are two changes to the backline with Craig Barry starting on the wing and Dillyn Leyds shifting to fullback, while a fitagain Dewaldt Duvenage replaces the injured Jano Vermaak at scrumhalf.

Leyds started at wing against the Lions and SP Marais at fullback, but with Marais being dropped to the bench Leyds will start in the No 15 jersey.
