French coaching legend dies at 70

- Paris

– Former French football coach Henri Michel, who also coached Mamelodi Sundowns, has died at the age of 70.

Michel played in midfield for Nantes and earned 58 internatio­nal caps between 1967 and 1980.

Under his guidance, France reached he semifinals of the World Cup in Mexico in 1986.

He went on to coach a host of African countries and clubs, with his last assignment in Kenya in 2012. – AFP
