BACKERS DETERMINED TO WIN SA ENDURANCE SERIES RACE

The Western Cape Killarney circuit will host round two of the 2018 Mopar South African Endurance Series, the Campos 600, this Saturday, as the highlight of a full regional championship raceday.

Topping the 600 km race entry will be a variety of sports cars like the ultra-quick SMR Ginetta-Corvette of Simon Murray and Gavin Cronje, the Rico Barlow Ligier-Honda of Nick Adcock/ Michael Jensen, the Ligier Honda of Fritz Kleynhans/ James Forbes and the Backdraft Cobra Lexus V8 entries of Tony Martin/Mike McLouglin, Trevor Graham/ Brian Martin, plus Mike Schmidt and Bruce Avern-Taplin.

Since they are sponsoring the race, the Campos family of Rui, Jason and Keegan will be determined to win in their Campos Transport Shelby V8.

Admission will cost R60 per adult and R40 per student, with kids under the age of 12 entering for free.

The baby sports car class will have contenders like Nash MVW3-Volkswagens crewed by Hubi von Moltke/Jose Vasques and Peter Schmidt-Loffler/ Dean Wolson, the Team Lessons ELF S06-Toyota of Eric Salomon/ Dave Sinclair and the Wright Sports 2000 Opel of Josh Dovey and Phillip Meyer.

Topping the saloon car entry should be the Arnold Chatz Alfa Romeo Giulietta of Bradley Scorer and Theo Van Vuuren, the CRC Q20 Volkswagen Golf 6 GTI of George Smalberger and Heinz Bose and the Powerking Volkswagen Golf Mk 1 of Rudi Patoir and Rob Prece. – Endurance Racing Correspondent
