Nehawu has gone off the rails

-

The trade unionists currently striking at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital should bring their minds to bear on the idea that, perhaps one day, they will be in need of medical care at a state hospital.

I will accept the idea that anybody has the right to withdraw their labour, but must state that I also believe that certain employees are, and should be, rated as essential services.

If you are employed in an essential service you may not, and most certainly should not, withdraw your labour in any circumstances.

To endanger the lives of those requiring medical treatment should be treated as attempted murder. Those involved should be charged and face the full might of the law.

My belief is that Nehawu has gone way off the rails in this matter. All costs to clean and repair the hospital should be for the union’s account. Perhaps this will bring them to the realisation that necessary workers must attend work, even when they have a dispute with management.

Trashing hospitals and causing costly damage will not bring any support from the public!
