Fosa Juniors deny ‘Dax’ move to Chiefs

- Sibongiseni Gumbi

Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has insisted they did everything correctly when they signed Madagascan playmaker Andriamirado “Dax” Andrianarimanana and claimed to be not aware of the statement from his holding club Fosa Juniors, who refuted the move on Wednesday.

Amakhosi announced Andrianarimanana last week, with Motaung saying he was the answer to the team’s lack of creativity up front and likening him to former star Reneilwe Letsholonyane.

But Fosa Juniors looked to have thrown a spanner in the works when they released a statement claiming Andrianarimanana was still their player and they hadn’t authorised the move to the Soweto giants.

“Following recent speculation regarding the transfer of Andrianarimado to Kaizer Chiefs we would like to put on record that the latter club have not approached Fosa Juniors for a transfer and no transfer has been signed between the two clubs. We remain open to any serious offers respecting the procedures for the international transfer of players,” read the statement.

Motaung was confident the player had been signed correctly, with all proper procedures followed.

“The agent is dealing with the club. That is not in my hands. He would be the one better positioned to talk. I have not discussed anything with the club myself. The transaction was done properly and above board,” said Motaung.

“He was a free agent and doesn’t belong to any club. We followed through the process with their federation. If there is a club who feels they are owed they know the right procedure to follow.

“These things happen in football. We have been in such situations before. The player will arrive soon,” he added.

Andrianarimanana reportedly played for Fosa Juniors at the weekend, despite having signed with Amakhosi. Motaung also revealed that they are taking their time appointing a coach because they want to ensure they get the right man for the job.

“It is a process and we are still working on it. There is no pressure. We will advise when the process has been finalised.”
