Laing holds the aces at Fairview

- Viv Greybe

Well-bred Stormy Eclipse, out of Tara Laing’s stable, looks set to stamp his class with a 10th career win at Fairview today when stepping out with Charles Ndlovu aboard in Race 5, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1600m.

Ndlovu has a fine association with the six-year-old in seven outings – winning four times and unplaced only once. Three runs back when a slow starter, the gelding posted a smart win under 61kg in a 1800m Pinnacle Stakes, and then carrying 1kg more the gelding followed up with a game fastfinishing close win in a Pinnacle Stakes over 1600m.

Expect another stout effort from Justin Snaith-trained Afrikaburn (61kg) with Aldo Domeyer up. The six-year-old was unplaced only once in his six runs this year. The gelding caught punters off guard next time when coming from last to score easily in the Fairview 1400.

Also to be respected is Tobie Spies-trained Cape Rebel (Jarryd Penny) who fared well in his last three starts in feature events.

Making most appeal of the others are Story Of My Life, Paper Town, Miracle Bureau and True Master.

The Laing stable could also come to light in Race 7 with Star Burst Galaxy (Callan Murray) who contests the East Cape Breeders Stakes (Listed) for fillies and mares over 1200m.

Alan Greeff sends out six runners in this tricky contest, the best of which could be Pepper Oak (Teaque Gould) and Beataboutthebush (Domeyer).

The pick of the remainder are Clifton Sunset, Make It Raine, Via Seattle and Stopthinkingofme.
