Happy Senong: We have every chance

- Tshepo Ntsoelengoe

Amajita coach Thabo Senong is happy to have his whole team fit and healthy ahead of their crucial Caf Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations final qualifying, second-leg match with Malawi tomorrow.

The South African Under-20 side were held to a goalless draw at the Moruleng Stadium last weekend in the first leg, but Senong remains confident that his charges can get a goal away from home

“The camp is looking good, we don’t have any injuries, the boys are okay. We are looking forward to the second leg in Malawi, if we keep our discipline and shape and make sure we don’t concede, then we have a chance of winning the game,” said the Amajita coach.

Amajita departed for Malawi yesterday to continue their preparations for the match and coach Senong says the important thing for his team is to keep a clean a clean sheet.

“We are going to train twice in Malawi on Thursday and Friday just for adaptation reasons and play on Saturday,” he added.

“For us we don’t want to concede, the way we play and perform we create many chances, so we have no doubt that we will get a goal or two, but we definitely don’t want to concede.”

Amajita skipper Khulekani Kubheka (left), meanwhile, said the next 90 minutes would be very important for them.

“We wanted to win the first leg because it was here at home, but it is also said that if you can’t win, then protect what you have. So even though we didn’t win we didn’t give away a goal,” said Kubheka.

“So going into the second leg we have something to impact the game and everybody knows how important this game will be. This is the last 90 minutes that will take us to Afcon so we just need to go out there and score the away goal which will give us the advantage.”
