Follow Marcus at Scottsville

- Jack Milner

Anton Marcus might only have one ride at Kenilworth tomorrow but returns to Scottsville on Sunday when he has a number of rides with winning chances.

He starts off in Race 1 riding Buckleberry for Paul Lafferty in a Maiden Plate over 1000m and looks poised for a first win. He won a barrier trial which indicates he has some ability and hopefully Marcus will make all the difference on the three-yearold son of Crusade

The danger could come from the Duncan Howells yard who saddle El Cordobes. This son of Toreador has only contested a barrier trial in which he finished 4.10 lengths behind Path To Texas but has Muzi Yeni up and could improve on that performance.

Marcus could quickly double up in Race 2 where he rides Riptide for Sean Tarry.

Last time she ran over 1600m on the Polytrack at Greyville and after leading for much of the journey, faded late to finish third, three lengths off Tombola. She drops to 1400m this time which could be more up her street.

Her obvious danger is Star In The Sky who ran in a barrier trial won by Traces, a feature race winner. Dennis Drier then ran his charge in a Maiden Plate over 1200m on the Polytrack where she ran a 1.75-length third behind Not Now Pussycat.

She is by Silvano so Star In The Sky is likely to enjoy the extra 200m this time.

Perhaps Marcus’ best ride comes up in Race 5, a MR 76 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1000m where he is aboard fiveyear-old Bonnie Dawn for Louis Goosen. Her last two starts were over this course and distance and she ran well in both, especially her last run where she finished a one-length second behind Ronnie Rocket, despite losing two lengths at the start.

Marcus is sure to make a major difference on this daughter of Querari who could be a banker in the Pick 6 carryover which is expected to reach R1.7 million.
