Augustano looks set to be the Kranji Polytrack hero

- Larry Foley Singapore

– The turf track gets a well-earned rest today with all the races on the work-horse that is the Polytrack.

And a smart all-weather track specialist late in the meeting may be one of the better bets on the card for punters.

The horse in question is AUGUSTANO and the now four-yearold can make a winning return to racing when he resumes in what is a very suitable Kranji Stakes C dash over 1000m in Race 7.

His trials suggest he is ready to run a big race and given he won twice in Class 3 on the Polytrack earlier in the year before a big albeit unplaced - run in the Three Year Old Sprint, he will be very hard to hold out with Duric taking the ride.

It is a terrific race though and two other horses resuming in SIR ISAAC and YULONG FAST STEED can also be considered with the latter a good value option with best work expected late.

Of those we have seen recently, ELITE POWER is in terrific form and looks well-placed to run a big race from gate 3, while a last start winner SILKINO is always some show on the Polytrack and is often value in this company.

A terrific race is promised at Kranji, but AUGUSTANO looks like the Polytrack horse to beat.

Best Bets: (AUGUSTANO Race 7, win), (LONHRO GOLD Race 8, Win) and (DIXIELAND ROCK Race 2, value).

Jackpot: Race 5 (1, 3, 4, 5, 11 and 12), Race 6 (3, 5 and 6), Race 7 (2, 5 and 6), Race 8 (1, 3 and 8).
