Pick this Bok team, Rassie

-

Apoor performance indeed by the Springboks. The fact that they lost to a Super Rugby side must be worrying for coach Rassie Erasmus, pictured.

Was Francois Louw actually on the field of play? Our best flanker, Kwagga Smith, is playing in Japan. Erasmus could also have a look at Marnus Schoeman of the Pumas.

Our backline, except for the “Little General”, Faf de Klerk, was a disaster. Handre Pollard not only had a poor game, but is unable to dictate the play like a Beauden Barrett.

I would have moved De Klerk to flyhalf and brought on Embrose Papier as scrumhalf. De Klerk has a tremendous feel for the game and is lightning fast. A real surprise package.

Ruan Combrinck must be brought back. Making a tremendous fuss of young, inexperienced players is not the answer. Pieter Steph-du Toit is a must to start with Franco Mostert.

I would also start with Akker van der Merwe as hooker and bring Malcolm Marx on in the

second half – the same with Eben Etzebeth and RJ Snyman.

Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira has to be replaced by Steven Kitshoff in the starting line-up.

I would then move Warren Whiteley to the bench and start with Duane Vermeulen at No 8 (if available). Siya Kolisi on the one flank, Smith on the other, with Marco van Staden as backup. Kolisi needs more help in his leadership role. He is not a natural leader. On Saturday’s performance, the All Blacks are going to have us for breakfast by at least 50 points.

The flyhalf position must be Erasmus’ biggest concern. We just don’t have a Henry Honiball.
