Fourie wins on his first four rides

- Ken Nicol

The Snaith-Fourie show continued at Kenilworth on Saturday, as they teamed up to win four of the first five races in impressive style. Oh, and the other race was a workriders’ event for which Mr Fourie is definitely over-qualified!

Very useful sprint filly Nordic Breeze completed a four-timer with victory in the Fillies and Mares Conditions Plate, and afterwards Snaith confirmed this was her swan song before going to stud.

A race earlier, Computaform best bet Magnificent Seven scored a virtually untroubled start-tofinish win in Race 4, a MR 91 over 2000m. He will still be very well handicapped next time.

Earlier, the combination had scored a couple of easy wins in what may well turn out to be very strong 1200m Maiden Plate.

Australian import Crown Towers quickened up well to win the opening race, and Fourie was almost gushing in his praise.

“A beautiful animal. Such a lovely horse and he is going right to the top,” were his post-race words.

Then in Race 3 Trip To The Sky made good improvement on a decent debut to sweep on by and win by almost 3.5 lengths.

He had been beaten by over seven lengths on debut by impressive Andre Nel debut winner Pleasedtomeetyou, who is obviously a very smart sort himself.

Joey Ramsden celebrated his 50th birthday this week, and had something to celebrate as the yard hopefully put a rather torrid period behind them after Fours A Crowd won Race 7.

This Gimmethegreenlight filly had never tried 1000m before, and at 18-1 went off the biggest outsider of the seven runners.

She finished well and got up late to pip the dueling Straat-Kind and It Is What It Is.
