Lives and safety matter, ANC

-

Perhaps one must begin by asking a question as to why the ANC government in Gauteng is so reactive when it comes to serious matters affecting the lives of the people?

It was the tragedy at Life Esidimeni and now the fire at the Lisbon building that houses Gauteng departments.

The tragedy that has left three firefighters dead and others in hospital would have been avoided if the government in the province responded to the complaints raised by workers and unions. But the leaders were arrogant, knowing that some buildings, including the Lisbon building, were inhabitable.

They always wait for a tragedy to happen before they take action. People’s lives don’t matter to them.

The issue of safety was raised as far back as in 2014, but nothing was done to intervene so that the lives of the people would be protected.

I hope the ANC in Gauteng will be quick to accept election results

next year and not play blame games when the people of the province punish them. These people don’t learn from their very own mistakes.
