Score a Hole In One Pick 6 at Greyville

- Germaine Maharaj

Punters have had a field day on the Greyville Polytrack because not only do the weather conditions seldom hold back meetings, but the pay-outs are consistently impressive.

This could again be the case today should Hole In One continue the winning streak the Dennis Drier yard has been on. He could be an unusual banker in Race 3, the first leg of the Pick 6, as he is carded as a first timer. He barrier trialled at the end of last season.

Punters will know that the yard had problems back then, but have been sending out rejuvenated runners who have impressed the last few weeks. Hole In One could be one of those as he is well bred and showed good pace in that trial.

Add to that a plum draw and he appears the one with most in his favour. Those wanting to play safe can consider raced runners who have shown potential, including Drier’s other runner Walterthepenniless, as well as Just Dixit and Special Force.

Anton Marcus is usually followed early to fund exotic bets and he looks to have a chance aboard interestingly bred What A Winter gelding Chiron, who is well placed in Race 1. But the horse named after one of the fastest cars in the world didn’t show too much pace in his race debut and the Trifecta and Quartet could be the better way to go. Fives Wild must be a runner from his better draw and has met some fair sorts. Rove the pair with the field.

Marcus’ best runner could be Fleek, who turned in a fluent effort first time over the longer 1400m trip on the turf at Scottsville. She is the form choice in Race 4.
