South Africa’s biggest gaming and cosplay expo, rAge, is running a competition to raise awareness and funding for the Cancer Association SA. With October marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month, organisers of rAge are offering entrants the chance to help out with a good cause and to win some nifty priz- es while they are at it.

The competition is open to cosplayers who dress up as characters from the game Overwatch, and volunteers will be educating attendees about cancer, asking for donations, and rewarding donors with pink ribbons.

Contest organiser Bronwyn Scott said: “A simple donation will see the entrant go into a draw for a whole host of special goodies, including NAG hampers, a hand-painted Spider-Gwen figurine, a 3D-printed Pink Mercy prop gun replica, Funko Pop figures, and my favourite … a set of custom-made wings chosen by the winner.

“I was blown away by the amount of support that this initiative has received from an organisation, sponsor and volunteer point of view. Everyone wants to do something small to help out, and in doing so we have the opportunity to make a big impact.”

According to rAge’s official website, the competition runs until October 26 and the draw takes place on October 31. If you want to get your gamer, geek, or cosplay on – and support a worthy cause while you’re at it – head to rAge at the Ticketpro Dome this weekend.
