Orlando Pirates’ recent displays are something that excites midfielder Ben Motshwari, who says there is still a lot to come from the club going forward.

The former Bidvest Wits midfielder has been one of the most consistent players in Mlutin Sredojevic’s line-up, forging a solid partnership with another former Clever Boy, Xola Mlambo, in the heart of the Bucs midfield.

The Buccaneers went into this week’s matches on top of the Premiership with 14 points after four wins, two draws and two losses in eight games. Today, they host Golden Arrows at Orlando Stadium.

“It’s been very positive, we are growing in our performances game by game. We haven’t done much, though, and there is still a lot we need to improve on. But our recent results are very positive and they make us want to do better,” said the midfielder.

“In order for us to keep it this way we need to be consistent, so I say there is a need to improve. That’s what we are always trying to do at our training sessions.

“We are always working on new combinations and Xola and I have played together before, that’s why it makes it simple for me to play with him. But again, everyone in the team is able to play ... we can all do the job when called up for duty.”

Another reason Motshwari believes they have managed to show signs of progression so far in the season is because of the work done by the technical team, who work tirelessly to ensure the team produce good results.

“Our coaches are hard workers and they do a lot of research on our opponents. When we go on to the field, we have to show their work is visible,” he added.

“The plan is to improve game by game and I think we have been doing that. If we can continue like this for the whole season, I believe we can achieve a lot and we will bring smiles to our supporters, because they support us during good and bad times. They are very important to us.”
