Zambia will attempt to secure their first win of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers when they host GuineaBissau in a Group K clash at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium tonight.

Chipolopolo earned a 1-1 draw in Namibia in their previous fixture in the qualifying series back in September, with Orlando Pirates striker Justin Shonga rescuing a point for them late in the game.

They are winless in the qualifiers and currently sit third in the standings with one point. They will be looking for a victory in order to keep their hopes of qualifying for Afcon 2019 alive.

Coach Sven Vandenbroeck has named a strong squad for the double-header against Guinea-Bissau with Shonga keeping his place in the team. The striker is expected to start up front with Orlando Pirates team-mate Augustine Mulenga.

Guinea-Bissau were held to a thrilling 2-2 draw away at Mozambique in their previous outing in the Afcon qualifiers. They had to come from behind twice to earn a point in Maputo.

The West Africans have been in terrible form lately, with the draw in Maputo ending a run of three straight defeats. Baciro Cande’s men are however still top of the standings with four points having begun their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Namibia.

With Zambia appearing to be turning a corner under manager Vandenbroeck and Guinea-Bissau having a terrible recent record, I expect Chipolopolo to edge this clash.
