Free power is a pipe dream, SA

-

If Eskom is unable to supply the country with electrical power, who should be held responsible? There has been many changes of management in the recent past, so some investigation is needed to find the root cause of all the rot at Eskom.

Would it not be logical for all electricity users, who are contracted to Eskom, to put together a class action against all the current, and recently past, management of Eskom for failure to keep to the agreed contract?

I suspect this will result in some urgently needed swift action from Eskom and the government, the legal owners of Eskom, on behalf of the people of South Africa.

There are numberless users of electricity who pay nothing toward the cost of the upkeep of the network, or for the units of electricity they use.

I know that many of these poor people wish to have electricity, but South Africa cannot afford to supply power free of charge.

I grew up on a farm in England which never had electricity supply. Electrical power arrived at the farm after we had paid to have the supply line erected in about 1959.

South Africans must not think they are the only people

who have grown up without electricity! It would be wonderful if everybody could have power free of charge, but it is just not possible!
