With one match still to play in Gameweek 26 of the Fantasy Premier League, it was Phakaaathi’s own staff who were making headlines with their performance in the Phakaaathi Private Fantasy League.

Readers chasing the grand prize for February – a Qatar 3 Piece Lounge Suite valued at R9999 need not worry – because Phakaaathi and The Citizen staff cannot win the loot – but it is our own Clinton Jones and The Mullets who were currently leading the way for the month, pending last night’s match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle.

The Mullets benefited greatly last week from placing their triple captain chip on Sergio Aguero, and the Argentinian genius was at it again on Sunday, with a hat-trick in Manchester City’s 6-0 demolition of Chelsea.

This earned Jones 17 points, but his top scorer was his captain Paul Pogba (below), who got 32 points as a skipper for his two goals in Manchester United’s 3-0 win at Fulham on Saturday.

Special mention must also go to The Citizen News’ own Phakaaathi Fantasy Team, who top scored in the Phakaaathi Private Fantasy League on Saturday and Sunday with 90 points.

Run by Phakaaathi editor Jonty Mark, and doing far better than his own team, Jonty’s Galacticos, the Phakaaathi Fantasy Team also captained Pogba, and had Aguero, while also including Raheem Sterling, who got 18 points in the Chelsea annihilation.

The Phakaaathi Fantasy Team also had Watford’s Ben Foster in goal, who got 10 points for his performance in the 1-0 win over Everton, while Wolves’ Matt Doherty had the potential to add more points in last night’s game against the Magpies.

Heading the race for the grand prize for February, meanwhile, was Ebrahim Yusuf and Eggplant Emoji, who got an impressive 88 points on Saturday and Sunday, and this was despite getting only 16 points for captaining Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

Eggplant Emoji also had Pogba, and Aguero, along with Alexandre Lacazette, who scored for Arsenal on Saturday.

Raul Jimenez also had potential to add some points for Eggplant Emoji yesterday, while four of their five-man defence – goalkeeper Alisson, Andy Robertson, Luke Shaw and Aymeric Laporte, kept clean sheets.

You can still enter Phakaaathi’s Private Fantasy League, for a chance to win great monthly prizes, by following the rules in the advert at the bottom of this page.
