Attenborough to defend title

TRAVELLED: RAMSDEN’S CHARGE HAS EXCELLENT WARM-UP RUN AT TURFFONTEIN

- Jack Milner

Bremner nominates Princess Rebel for Computaform Sprint.

A ttenborough will be back at Turffontein on Saturday 4 May to defend his Computaform Sprint title. Joey Ramsden’s charge made the trip from Cape Town last year and, ridden by Richard Fourie, came from off the pace to beat Pinnacle Peak by one length.

He is among the 21 entries for this year’s race to be run for a R1million stake on Saturday 4 May and we do know he is going to run as he is already in Joburg and has had a run over the course and distance. That was in a Pinnacle Stakes on 6 April and he finished a 1.30-length second to Trip To Heaven.

Ramsden is clearly keen to keep a winning formula as he has also brought up Speedpoint, who finished third in last year’s race.

If ever a sprinter deserves to win a Grade 1 race it is Trip To Heaven and Sean Tarry has entered him, along with Chimichuri Run, Bull Valley and Exquisite Touch.

Port Elizabeth-based trainer Yvette Bremner has made Turffontein a happy hunting ground and she will have the filly, Princess Rebel. This four-year-old daughter of Rebel King has raced 10 times for six wins.

However, Princess Rebel is drawn No 1 which has not been a great gate from which to start at Turffontein right now.

Supplementary entries close at 9am on Friday 26 April with declarations by 11am on 29 April.
