Fleck’s men ready to cook up a Storm

-

The Stormers will look to retain valuable momentum when they host the Brumbies in a Super Rugby clash at Newlands this weekend.

The Capetonians are entering a crucial two-week period, during which they are set to welcome the Australian side before their revenge fixture against the Bulls next week.

Prop Steven Kitshoff (left), who captained the side in their victory over the Rebels in Melbourne last week in the absence of regular captain Siya Kolisi, felt the desire and tenacity shown by some of the younger players had come through when it was needed.

“The young guys that came through, like Ernst van Rhyn making his debut, can be very pleased,” Kitshoff said.

After losing key players on their recent tour, the Stormers could be boosted by the return of Kolisi and Pieter-Steph du Toit this week, though locks Chris van Zyl and Eben Etzebeth are likely to remain on the sidelines for a few more matches.

With Stormers coach Robbie Fleck expected to name his side today for the 3.05pm clash against the Brumbies on Saturday, Kitshoff said it was only fair to reward some of the younger players who had stood out last week.

“All of them played such good rugby and made such a big impact,” he said.

“It was just incredible to watch and have that presence on the field. They just gave everything for the full 80 minutes.

“Making over 150 tackles, the okes were firing to get the win.”

The Rebels were exposed by the Stormers last weekend when the Aussie conference leaders were strangely subdued, while the Tahs dropped a close away game 32-29 to the Blues before their bye.

Waratahs by 10.

The Capetonians have mostly been tough to beat at home especially after ending their trip Down Under on a high, while the Brumbies downed the Lions at their Canberra home but have been poor travellers in recent times. Stormers by 13. Bulls, Jaguares, Crusaders.
