Aristachus is a two-time winner from seven starts.

Two recently gelded runners can fight out Race 6 on the Vaal Classic track tomorrow, a Graduation Plate over 1000m. Both Mythical Bolt and Capetown Affair will be having their first runs after gelding and considerable improvement can be expected from both of them.

Mythical Bolt has to have a clear advantage based on form. He has run some super races against very good horses and it is hard to believe he is only a one-time winner.

Trained by Sean Tarry, this son of Captain Al finished a onelength second to Winter Storm on debut and followed that up with a convincing victory at Turffontein. He has raced seven more times and despite some very close finishes, Mythical Bolt has finished second three more times and third twice and on four of those occasions was not beaten more than 0.30 lengths.

Last time he ran, Mythical Bolt contested a Non-Black Type race over 1000m on the Greyville Polytrack and was just touched off by Van Halen who is a Grade 1 winner.

This four-year-old has not run since then but if the gelding has brought him on, he will be hard to beat in this race. Raymond Danielson, who together with Tarry is having a remarkable run, takes the ride.

Capetown Affair has raced just six times, shedding his maiden in his second start. He has placed twice since then but has been his own worst enemy. In fact, he had to be scratched the first time he was supposed to run for refusing to enter the starting stalls. He played up on the way to the start and often loses his races before going into the stalls.

However, once in a race, this three-year-old son of Capetown Noir knows what he has to do. Every jockey who has ridden him has been complimentary but everyone who got off him had two choice words – “geld him”.

That has now happened and trainer Ashley Fortune has confirmed he is far calmer and his work has improved. While he has yet to meet the quality of runner faced by Mythical Bolt, with 4kg claimer Jeffrey Syster up, he will carry just 51.5kg and that will make him most competitive.

Aristachus is a two-time winner from seven starts and has some decent form. He also has a 4kg claiming apprentice in the irons but on a line through El Patron, he is not well handicapped against Capetown Affair.
