Wake up, planet’s climate change is very real

-

Global warming and its devastating impact on the world is very real, writes Barrie Taylor.

In response to Jean Michel of Bryanston and his condemnation of the children demonstrating about climate change, I would like to say the following: thank God for those children.

I wonder if Jean Michel has children or grandchildren. If he does he needs to be very, very worried.

It is a known fact, disclosed by many scientists, that we have just 12 years to not only reduce temperatures and greenhouse gases but to actually get them to zero. We have not even stopped the increase at this point, let alone reduce it.

The urgency could not be greater. If we do not achieve this goal in 12 years it will be too late and the situation will be irreversible.

I also drive a car powered by petrol, use electricity produced by burning coal and eat meat which adds to methane gas being released into the atmosphere.

However, we all need to accept this way of life cannot continue if we want to save the human race and leave behind a habitable planet for our children.

The technology to rectify and replace all these issues is readily available and only world leaders like US President Donald Trump are preventing this from progressing.

Wake up and read up on the subject. The arctic is melting at an alarming rate, the Amazon rainforest is on fire, the Great Barrier Reef is rapidly being destroyed, extreme weather is becoming normal, sea levels are set to rise. The list goes on.
