No home sweet home for Sono’s men

A lack of a home venue and the introduction of new players has delayed Jomo Cosmos’ take-off in the GladAfrica Championship, but long-serving defender and captain Ange Lebahi (right) says there is no reason for panic yet.

Lebahi admitted that the slow start could come back to bite the team towards the end of the season but said it was expected it would happen after the team made changes to their squad.

“If you look at the team, it is me and maybe four or three other guys who were here two seasons ago. The rest are new guys and it has not been easy to get an understanding going,” Lebahi told Phakaaathi yesterday.

Cosmos are at the bottom, having won once, lost and drew three times in seven outings so far. With a quarter of the games for the season gone, Lebahi says it is worrying but also reveals there is light at the end of the tunnel.

“The lack of a home venue which forced us to move to Giyani has also had an effect because we would want to have a permanent base and not move around every week.

“But we are playing our last game in Giyani this weekend and we are coming back to Tsakane Stadium after that. That will help in minimising travelling time for the players.

“There are also signs that we are starting to understand each other and I believe we will start winning games soon,” he said.

Ezenkosi’s next game is against Swallows FC who got an important win against a hard-running Ajax Cape Town side at the weekend and they will be happy to have scored three goals.

“We are both trying to move away from the danger zone which we are currently in. They won but they are still in danger, just like us. We are going to try and use this as a motivation and win the game,” said Lebahi.
