Benni McCarthy must stop shifting the blame to match officials for his club’s defeat against Kaizer Chiefs. His tactics were way off the mark. Also, teams that don’t take their chances in open play seldom win their matches.

Mareka

Good to hear SuperSport United saying they will not rest on their laurels after securing the MTN8 trophy. The road ahead is still long and tough.

Modiri Moroka

A good weekend with all the big guns winning their games. Mamelodi Sundowns had a rather easy win but both Orlando Pirates and Kaizer had to sweat. Hard luck to Bidvest Wits against Maritzburg United. The game was interesting though.

Godfrey

What a comprehensive five goals by Sundowns against AmaZulu. It was a South American show as three of them scored.

Sundowns can be ruthless.

Patty

Happy belated birthday to Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung for turning 75. He started a club that is today one of the best and biggest on the continent.

Monel

Watch out for the Sirino, Affonso and Meza (SAM) combination. They are going to mesmerise defenders in the league. Affonso has adapted well with a goal on debut.

Pat

Chiefs’ management must be praised when it’s due. We’re always hammering Bobby Motaung and his colleagues but hardly give them a pat on the back for a job well done. The Chiefs players are switched on.

Masemza

Nazeer Allie of Maritzburg United is a cool and calm veteran defender. He reads the game well and makes sure he marshals the defence. Allie has brought some stability to the team.

Mphepu

It is very important that we give all the support to our local young coaches, people like Rulani Mokwena and Benni McCarthy, let’s give them enough time as they need to settle and get the experience, they will make us proud as a nation.

Carlton Dlamini

I had a chuckle at Phakaaathi’s front page (15/10), “Castro’s Time To Shine”. Just as well, load shedding is back!

Uncle Hugh

Sometimes it pays not to reward someone based on history. I think it is time John Comitis looks again at Benni McCarthy. Every time he takes off Kermit Erasmus his team go on to lose. Yes, Benni was the greatest striker this country has ever produced, but his tactics are way off the mark.

Mamantoro

The absence of Paul Pobga is costing the Red Devils big time. Pobga is a player who gives everything he has in the game so it is unfortunate for Man United not to have had him recently. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Irvin

With the exceptiom of Wits, all the big guns made it to the semis. My team Chiefs won but not convincingly and if they were to face either Pirates or Sundowns we will lose.

Siya Khumalo Zola

Happy 75th birthday to Kaizer Chiefs boss Kaizer Motaung. May his steadfast leadership at the club continue. Many happy returns!!

Modiri

One can only agree with Highlands Park coach Owen da Gama when he says the 1-0 defeat against SuperSport United in the MTN final, together with the international break, has helped his team to refocus in solidifying their performances in the upcoming games. The outfit are indeed the team not to be overlooked this season.

MM

The Bulgaria v England Euro 2020 qualifier, which showed overwhelming racist undertones, should prompt Fifa to deliver extreme punishment as an example to all and sundry.

Modiri Moroka

It is my wish that Safa and Caf resolve their stand-off about Bafana Bafana’s fixtures amicably. Our national team doesn’t deserve an administrative distraction.

Modiri

Human beings are a really dynamic species. They keep on developing ideas all the time, especially those who are attention-seeking. This is in relation to the Inter Milan match over the weekend where one individual decided streaking (running onto the field naked) is old-fashioned and thereby parachuted himself onto the field to disrupt the match. Wheeuw!!

Modiri Moroka

What a dramatic game between Cape Town City and Chiefs. The game produced fireworks and tackles. Chiefs are always beating City these days.

Mmakgatla

Chiefs outsmarted Cape Town City again. They always come from behind and get a victory. Benni must get defenders to manage leads in a game.

Mmakgatla

I believe Castro and Billiat must start against Sundowns. Only then will we win that massive encounter.

Fankie

It was encouraging to see our coach Ernst Middendorp at Lucas Moripe Stadium over the weekend attending the Sundowns v AmaZulu match ahead of our battle this coming weekend against the former. One hopes he doesn’t make fundamental mistakes like Benni does of late at Cape Town City by replacing Erasmus who keeps the defence on their toes. Look how Mathoho and Co surge forward afterwards.

Kanku

Rulani Mokwena keeps lamenting the fact that Pirates miss so many scoring opportunities yet before the start of the season Khoza signed the best striker coach from overseas.

Bhungane

Bradley Grobler is making a serious impact at SuperSport United. He always pops up with a goal even when his team is down.

Masemza

Mxolisi Macuphu always outwits defenders with his improvising touches in the box. He’s a nuisance to many defenders. Mxolisi fits well into the Wits set-up.

Mphepu

Nearly every time Benni McCarthy takes off Kermit Erasmus his team get beaten yet he considers himself a genius and the greatest player of them all.
