Tembo likely to be at his sartorial best

Kaitano Tembo says he might consider changing his touchline regalia from the usual tracksuit that he dons to a more semi-formal outfit similar to the one that he wore in the MTN8 final where SuperSport United beat Highlands Park to claim a maiden title under Tembo.

The Zimbabwean was seen spotting a blue long-sleeved shirt and grey trousers in the final earlier this month. Hoping that it could be a good omen, Tembo said he might wear that outfit tonight at the Lucas Moripe Stadium when they host Black Leopards in an Absa Premiership clash.

“It was just for me to change a little bit because last year when we got to the final I wore a tracksuit and this time around I wanted to change. I would have done the same against Baroka FC (in the Telkom Knockout) but I was not sure because I thought it might rain… but I am going to change,” said Tembo, though SuperSport certainly had their share of fortune in beating Baroka last weekend.

Regardless of whichever outfit Tembo comes out in tonight, it is guaranteed he will be on his feet for most of the game against Lidoda Duvha, barking instructions to his players in the bid to win a precious three points in front of their supporters.

Tembo has been using the same players for most of this season in all competitions, with the likes of Thamsanqa Gabuza and Bradley Grobler being the trusted duo up front, while Dean Furman and, Teboho Mokoena and Sipho Mbule have been the mainstays in the heart of midfield. This is because Tembo does not subscribe to a rotation policy.

“We don’t rotate players, we always select the best available team on the day, we don’t have reserves and we don’t have a weaker team. All the players are the same and whoever is doing well will get a chance to play,” Tembo explained.
