Mosimane’s Chiefs rant shows no sign of ending

- Michaelson Gumede

Pitso Mosimane (right) said Mamelodi Sundowns were already on the back foot before their 2-0 Absa Premiership defeat to Kaizer Chiefs even kicked off on Sunday, because he believes

Amakhosi are the biggest beneficiaries from referees’ errors and because his talisman Themba Zwane did not play after failing a late fitness test.

“One was losing “Mshishi” because he is very important, it is like losing Gaston Sirino and the factor of benefiting (from referees),” Mosimane cited as reasons for losing to Chiefs and seeing them open a five-point gap at the top. He questioned how long the Glamour Boys are going to “benefi from poor officiating as he believes Samir Nurkovic’s first goal was offside, when in fact, the Serbian did appear to just beat the offside trap.

“Is this viral or what? Is it going to stop? This thing must stop and I want to see if referees will make mistakes against Orlando Pirates. Something has to give in and I don’t know if Pirates fans are going to allow that. You can’t win every day through the referees mistakes, it must stop, we have seen it before but now it is worse. It is okay once but it is a series of things.

“But we must never confuse the will and the fight of the team to mistakes of the referees because it will look like I am discrediting them. They have fight ... let’s give them credit. But there is an angel next to them.”

The former Bafana Bafana coach added that he would also love to get points through the mistakes of the match officials.

“I also want to have this on my last eight games of the league, I want people to make mistakes then I benefit… I am waiting. And when I benefit I will say yes, I benefited,” said Mosimane.

“We are going to fight for the league. We fought for the league with them before and then they gave way, and then came Bidvest Wits and then they gave way.

“We fought with Pirates over the last two years and they gave way. The common denominator is us fighting for the league title in the last six years. We came second twice and won it four times,” he added.
