Current government has been huge letdown

-

Cyril Ramaphosa has been a disappointment as president, writes Tom Lambe.

After serious thought about South Africa’s government, I find the following: It is extremely good at making “promises” prior to elections but appears to be totally incapable of implementing the “promises” after an election.

The e-toll fiasco is a case in point. We are told all sorts of different stories by different ministers, but the current president seems to be doing a Jacob Zuma and is still “applying his mind”!

He has been a total disappointment to many like myself who had great hopes of Mr Cyril Ramaphosa when he was appointed president!

It appears the current government does not actually listen to the people who pay the salaries of the politicians.

It appears the government is incapable of collecting the monies owed to Eskom, various water authorities and numerous other governmental organisations.

Without a reliable income, no organisation is capable of paying for the services it receives from suppliers, and thus the supplier becomes bankrupt and numerous people become unemployed.

I have not heard of even one person being charged for stealing government monies in one form or another, either by wastage, illegal transfers or even simple theft.

The figures we are talking about run into the billions of rands.

Where on earth does the government think it is going to find the money to repay these enormous losses?
