Zinnbauer chuffed with Bucs’ progress

Josef Zinnbauer is pleased with the progress that he is seeing from his side following Orlando Pirates’ 1-0 victory against Mamelodi Sundowns at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday.

The Bucs coach who has been in charge of the club for the past four games, has recorded three wins and one draw, but this was by far his biggest win.

Zinnbauer credited the work his players have been doing at training, especially when they don’t have the ball, adding that the scorer of the only goal of the match Gabadinho Mhango, the top scorer in the Absa Premiership this season, has also been putting in the hard yards.

“Great, the feeling is good. It’s my first time that we had a big game and...it’s important for my team. They did some good work with the ball and without the ball, this is important against Sundowns. They are a great team ...we see what they do with the ball and it’s great as well as without the ball,” said the Bucs mentor.

“The team is improving in the training sessions...we have a player like Luvuyo Memela who had a great game. They find solutions and I saw the highlights on TV, it was a great pass between the lines (for Mhango’s goal), it’s not so easy. And Gabadinho Mhango….I don’t know what he has been drinking the whole week! He works hard.”

The German would like to see his team continue improving with every game and added that players like Ben Motshwari and Fortune Makaringe also graft tirelessly throughout every match.

“We improve all the time and we want to win all the games, but it’s not easy. At the moment we have players who get the goals, we have other players (like) Ben or Fortune in the number six or eight.

“They do a great job, they work for 90 minutes and they run. That is what we do, we work hard every day.”

Bucs next play host to Highlands Park tomorrow evening, and will fancy their chances against a Lions of the North side that has conceded seven goals in their past two matches.
