With the government keeping the ban on sin tax items, are they going to take salary cuts to compensate for loss of tax?

Gordon

The words of Bheki Cele and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma are powerful and they are life. Let us comply with the safety precautions and lockdown rules to flatten out the virus curve so as to move to Level 3.

Batsirai Kativu

Not a single overseas country forbids the sale of alcohol and cigarettes. We are losing billions in tax while the country is bankrupt, why? Drinkers and smokers get their fill on the black market.

Elke

Dear Mr Ramaphosa, the majority of your citizens have obeyed the rules. I am not a smoker but your word is your word. Please reconsider, thank you.

Pensioner

Honestly, with what is happening right now I would have felt safer if the coronavirus had held a press conference to tell us how it’s going to save us from government.

Jean Michel

Has anyone noticed how each and every item for sale on “special” is up by at least R2 or R3?

Theo J

Can Exclusive Books and Uber please come to our rescue and form UberReads! Desperate to read a new book.

BJ

Please stop printing letters from people praising the government. They make me feel sick.

Mike P

The government must not send us back to Level 5 because of those who break the law. Please move forward.

M James

With lockdown and social distancing laws, everyone who is anyone is now your boss. Recently, in a large supermarket in Boksburg, I was stopped at the entrance and told I must have a trolley. I tried to explain I’m only buying my The Citizen. Got a trolley, walked in, brought my The Citizen newspaper, put it in my oversize trolley, paid for it and walked out to my car. Sorry, there were queues of people waiting for my trolley.

Felix Steyn

How can the education department even suggest that parents must still pay school fees. Why don’t the government deduct part of their ministers’ April pay as they never put in work as such?

R Subjee

Who calls the shots, Ramaphosa or Dlamini-Zuma? It seems as if the left hand and right hand are not on the same page.
